Classroom Management I – Creating Classroom Expectations

This is a foundation course to help teachers understand what classroom management entails.  Teachers can use this course to help develop class expectations and how a teacher can reflect on his/her practice regarding classroom management.  Upon finishing the course, the teacher should have a fundamental understanding of how one can begin to create a classroom environment that is safe and fair.

This course is a general overview of classroom management.  New teachers (Years 1-3) and/or student-teachers of 7th-12th grade are best suited for the materials covered.

• Understand the definition of classroom management
• Recognize what elements should be considered when creating class expectations to help with classroom management
• Demonstrate an understanding of how class expectations can be used within the classroom
• Understand how one can evaluate their classroom management in order to reflect and improve
