Continuing Education Requirements for Alabama Nurses
The Alabama Board of Nursing requires all nurses to take continuing education for license renewal.
Requirements specific to Licensed Practical Nurses in Alabama
License Expiration & Renewal Schedule: LPN licenses are valid for two (2) years beginning January 1 of each even-numbered year and expiring December 31 of each odd-numbered year. Beginning in 2022, the renewal period is September 1st - December 31st.
Minimum Hours: 24
CE Requirement:
- (4) hours board-provided continuing education related to statutory and administrative frameworks for nursing regulation, scope of practice, and standards of practice (First renewal only)
