Continuing Education Requirements for Texas Nurses
The Texas Board of Nursing requires all nurses to take continuing education for license renewal.
Requirements specific to Licensed Vocational Nurse in Texas
License Expiration & Renewal Schedule: LVN licenses are valid for two (2) years and require renewal by last day of licensee's birth month in even numbered years for licensee born in even numbered years, and odd-numbered years for licensee born in odd-numbered years.
Minimum Hours: 20
CE Requirement:
- Human Trafficking (must be approved by Texas HHSC)
- (2) Forensic evidence (one time if work environment may include ER)
- (2) Nursing ethics and jurisprudence (every 3rd renewal)
- (2) Geriatric care
