Florida: Human Trafficking Training for Healthcare Professionals

The purpose of this course is to teach Florida health professionals to recognize and respond appropriately to the signs and behaviors that may be associated with human trafficking, in health centers and in other contexts. Includes information about the types of human trafficking, contexts, victims, criminals, reports and legal actions.

Healthcare Professionals in Florida needing at least 1 CEU of training in Human Trafficking due to passage of, Chapter 2019-152, Laws of Florida, which establishes new requirements, including the following professions:

• Understand the types, venues, and dynamics of human trafficking in the United States and Florida
• Describe the impacts of human trafficking in the United States and Florida
• Recognize risk factors, warning signs, and indicators of human trafficking that may be observed in adults and minors in healthcare settings
• List assessment tools that can be used to identify human trafficking victims
• Discuss the importance of using a trauma-informed approach when screening victims of human trafficking
• Describe mandated reporter obligations and resources for reporting suspected human trafficking in Florida
• Identify resources for legal and social services available to victims of human trafficking in Florida
