Continuing Education Requirements for Kentucky Nurses
The Kentucky Board of Nursing requires all Kentucky nurses to take continuing education requirements for their license.
New courses for licensed nurses that must be completed by July 1, 2023:

An Introduction to Classroom Management: Creating Classroom Expectations
This is a foundation course to help teachers understand what classroom management entails. Teachers can use this course to help develop class expectations and how a teacher can reflect on his/her practice regarding classroom management. Upon finishing the course, the teacher should have a fundamental understanding of how one can begin to create a classroom environment that is safe and fair.

Classroom Success – The First Years
The first days of school are paramount to the success of your school year. Understanding and establishing clear expectations, procedures, creating a classroom that speaks, and so much more. The first days of school correlate to the successes for the classroom throughout the year! Let us learn a few key elements to help get you on the path of success and effective teaching.

Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, and Cognitive Decline, an Introduction
This course is intended to equip nurses and other healthcare providers with essential knowledge about Alzheimer’s Disease and cognitive decline. The population is aging and these diagnoses are growing more common. Nurses need to know the risk factors, presentation, and diagnostic criteria of Alzheimer’s Disease so that they can support their patients across care arenas. Communication strategies, non-drug interventions for behavior support and care planning strategies will also be discussed. By the completion of the course, the learner will demonstrate knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease and cognitive decline by passing a post-test with a score ≥ 80%. The course is based on current empirical research and best-known evidence-based practices.

OSHA and the Safe Workplace
This course is intended to provide training on Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s workplace safety standards. Through this course, the learners will be able to understand the Hazard Communication Standards, know their rights and their employer’s responsibilities to provide a safe workplace, as well as recognize the best practices to ensure a trouble-free work environment.

Implicit Bias in Healthcare: An Introduction
This course is intended to teach help healthcare workers increase their knowledge of the impact of implicit bias on the provision of and outcomes of healthcare. Students will have the opportunity to evaluate and reflect upon their own implicit biases and will learn strategies for reducing the impact of implicit bias on the provision of healthcare. By the completion of the course, the learner will demonstrate knowledge of implicit biases and the impact on the provision of healthcare by passing a post-test with a score ≥ 80%.

Florida Rule and Law for Nurses
This course is intended to teach Florida registered nurses about current the rules and laws that govern their practice. Content from the Nurse Practice Act, as well as the Florida Administrative Code that is essential to legal practice as a registered nurse will be addressed. By the completion of the course, the learner will demonstrate knowledge of Florida Rule and Law for registered nurses by passing a post-test with a score ≥ 80%.

Burnout, Chronic Stress, and Suicidality Among Nurses
This course is intended to equip nurses with the information necessary for effective suicide prevention. By understanding risk and protective factors, trainees will gain increased capabilities at identifying the best course of action when dealing with suicide cases. The course will address suicide statistics, assessment, treatment, and management. By the completion of the course, the learner will demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based screening and prevention of suicide by passing a post-test with a score ≥ 80%. The course is based on current empirical research and best-known evidence-based practices.

Suicide Prevention for Healthcare Providers
This course is intended to equip Healthcare Providers with the information necessary for effective suicide prevention. By understanding risk and protective factors, trainees will gain increased capabilities at identifying the best course of action when dealing with suicide cases. Self-Care and Mental Health
This 1 hour course provides an overview of self-care and mental health in the United States. It highlights the need for self-care, and provides crisis information. A thorough direction is provided on possible strategies of self-care activities. Note: while a certificate is provided for completion of this course, most boards do not award CE credit for self-care topics.
